The power of PING!

The RAON Ping! programme is designed as a ‘jumpstart’ for young learners before the school day begins.

It helps children wake up their mind and body, igniting in them a spark of curiosity, enhancing their levels of confidence and wellbeing, and providing the motivation to engage in their school learning.

A Ping! wellbeing session lasts just 20 minutes, following our RAON model which raises awareness of the key elements of wellbeing and techniques to implement them.

Get READY by being in the present moment.

ACTIVATE the mind and body through brain games and movement.

Be OPEN to possibility and learning with intention.

Start your day with a bit of NONSENSE and a smile!

I think it’s brilliant. So so needed. I wish you could be in school doing it every day for half an hour to start all of the children off in a positive way. They all need it but particularly those who find learning really difficult

PiNg! Session

Ready? Be here now. We use simple mindfulness, breathing, visualisation and body scan techniques.

Activate. Answer the question of the day. Play a brain game. Learn a new dance or movement. Have fun!

Open. Open your minds and hearts. Reflect on kindness and gratitude. A daily quotation to inspire and provide inspiration for the day.

Nonsense! Connect with others. Be silly. Get those endorphins flowing. Start your day with a smile.

Both my daughter and foster daughter absolutely love RAON Ping! It sets them up for the day and makes them tune into how they are feeling. The different activities are explained brilliantly by Lesley and are accessible to all.

Why is PING! Important now?

Research shows that the happiness and well-being of children and young people has continued to drop over the last decade.

According to the World Health Organisation, 1 in 5 adolescents may experience a mental health problem in any given year. 50% of mental health problems may be established by the age of 14, and 75% by the age of 24.

It’s clear that a new approach is needed, especially in the face of the new challenges we’re facing. The Children’s Society’s Covid-19 Recovery briefing suggests that:

“.. the primary focus of the recovery curriculum should be on promoting well-being and successful reintegration, rather than solely focusing on academic achievement. Adopting a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing will be more important than ever.”

It doesn’t just wake you up, it puts you in a good mood for the day. (Finley, age 10)

ABout me

I have over 25 years experience in, and passion for, education, with a background in performing arts.

PING! is a culmination of my reflections on the ideas which have emerged from the growing focus on mental health & wellbeing.

They are the ideas I wish someone had told me at school, such as mindfulness, growth mindset, self-esteem and gratitude.

I enjoy helping young adults develop their confidence, life-skills, and a love for learning, by providing a fun environment with creatvity, play, challenge and encouragment.

My two never want to miss a session and to me that says it all!

I’M also a Certified happiness facilitator!

The Museum of Happiness is a non-profit social enterprise that provides an experiential adventure, where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn more about the essence of happiness and well-being. They are on a mission to share the art and science of happiness in playful and reflective ways.

PssSt!

According to clinical psychologist Ben Michaelis, colouring is a stress-free activity that relaxes the amygdala — the fear centre of the brain — and allows your mind to get the rest it needs. At the end of the day, colouring is good for you because it's fundamentally fun.
